We're a small band of painters, illustrators, and photographers who got tired of switching between five different apps just to check a value study, log a canvas, or remember a varnish formula. ChicRoscuro 2: Art Studio was built by people who still get paint under their fingernails — it's the studio companion we wished existed while standing in front of an easel at 11pm, squinting at a shadow we couldn't quite name.
Our mission is simple: help you see light and shadow the way the old masters trained themselves to see it, but with a camera in your pocket instead of a lifetime of guesswork. Chiaroscuro isn't a filter — it's a discipline. We built this app to make that discipline instant, portable, and precise, whether you're working from a live model, a photograph, or a memory of last night's sunset.

This policy explains, in plain terms, what that means in practice.
We collect nothing. ChicRoscuro 2 has no account system, no sign-up, and no login — so we never receive your name, email address, location, or any other personal identifier. Photos you capture with the Live Value & Shadow Analyzer or Palette Extractor, canvas dimensions you log, paint-mixing ratios you calculate, and progress photos you save to your Digital Portfolio Vault are created and processed entirely within the app on your own device. None of it is ever sent to us, because we have no server for it to go to.
Since nothing is collected, nothing is used, analyzed, profiled, or sold. There is no usage tracking, no behavioral analytics, and no advertising engine reading over your shoulder. Every calculation — from the Golden Ratio Canvas Scaler to the Tonal Value Distribution Graphs — runs as a local computation on your phone or tablet and produces a result only you ever see.
All content you create — reference photos, extracted palettes, drying-time timers, varnish formulas, and your full Canvas Gallery timeline — is stored locally in the app's storage on your device. There is no cloud sync, no remote backup, and no external database. If your device is lost, damaged, or has the app removed, that data is gone with it, exactly as it would be with a physical sketchbook.
ChicRoscuro 2 does not integrate any third-party analytics platforms, advertising networks, or tracking SDKs. We don't share data with partners because we don't collect data to share in the first place. The Complete Offline Access feature exists precisely so the app never needs to phone home.
Because your studio data never leaves your device, the biggest security factor is the security of your device itself — its lock screen, its operating system updates, and any backup service you personally choose to use. We minimize risk by minimizing exposure: there is no central server to breach and no account credentials to steal.
ChicRoscuro 2 does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13, because it does not collect personal information from anyone at all. The app is designed to be safe for young art students and hobbyists in this respect, consistent with COPPA principles.
You are always in full control of your own studio data. There are no accounts to manage and no cloud backups to request deletion of — removing an entry from your Canvas Gallery, clearing a saved palette, or uninstalling the app entirely removes that data from your device permanently. We simply have no copy to hold onto.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features or clarify existing practices. Any changes will be posted here with a revised Effective Date at the top of the page. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
